Thanksgiving travel rush begins

It’s billed as the busiest travel day of the year. According to AAA nearly 50 million Americans are traveling home for Thanksgiving. Travelers at Palm Springs International Airport were gearing up for a busy day this morning. “It’s the busiest day of the year. I’m praying my bags got here,” said Joshua Orsulak from Memphis Tennessee. Palm Springs International Airport’s Executive Director, Tom Nolan, says this year might be record breaking. “We can get up to 7,000 passengers a day, I expect to get close to that today,” Nolan said. While millions are flying to their destination, AAA says 89 percent of travelers will drive this year. Experts say a growing economy and relatively low gas prices are responsible for the flux in travelers. But despite the mode of transportation, everyone seems to have a similar motive- “It’s just about the cooking and eating with your family,” said one traveler. Another traveler agreed, “To see my family.”
