Locals remember ‘America’s favorite mom’, Florence Henderson

The woman known for playing the nation’s favorite television mom has passed away. Florence Henderson, who was known as Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch , died of heart failure Thursday night. Friday morning, people in the Valley remembered Henderson. Many said the TV legend touched their families hearts and grew up watching the all-American family. “She was just a very wholesome woman, a mom that you would maybe want to have. She was very understanding, even though it was just a show, the kids all interacted with her really well, and it was just nice,” said one local fan. People remember seeing Henderson light up TV screens for more than 6 decades, one of her latest performances on Dancing With The Stars in 2010. “She was just delightful in Dancing With The Stars. She was just a delightful person,” said Peggie Key of Palm Desert. Henderson was booked to perform a staged reading of “Steel Magnolias” at Coyote Stageworks in Palm Springs. People close to Henderson say the TV star died to heart failure. Henderson was surrounded by family and friends when she passed. She was 82 years old.
