Suspected burglar found sleeping on woman’s couch

A Yucca Valley woman awoke early Thanksgiving Day to find her house had been ransacked by a burglar. Fortunately none of her property had been stolen yet as the suspected burglar was still asleep on her couch, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies were called to the 58600 block of Barron Drive in Yucca Valley at 3:22 a.m. Thursday after the victim said she found an unknown woman sleeping on her couch in the living room.

The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Kimberly Johnson of Joshua Tree. Deputies detained her at the scene and found several of the victim’s items inside a pillow case and others in place by the front door, according to the sheriff’s release.

Johnson was arrested for residential burglary and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail on $25,000 bail.
