Holiday Spectacular on Ice to highlight tree lighting ceremony in Rancho Mirage

A tree-lighting ceremony will be held Tuesday evening in Rancho Mirage at the new outdoor ice skating rink at The River. In addition to the tree lighting, medalists and champions from the Los Angeles Figure Skating Club will join Richard “Mr. Debonair” Dwyer in a Holiday Spectacular on Ice.

The River is located at 71800 Highway 111 at Bob Hope Drive.

Carolers will kick off the evening by singing traditional holiday songs at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m. the Rancho Mirage High School Choir will perform. The tree lighting will happen at about 6:30 p.m.

The Holiday Spectacular on Ice will take place at about 6:45 p.m. at the Renova Rink @ The River.

Organizers said 80-year-old ice skating legend Richard Dwyer will be joined by Krystal Davis, Nichole Huenergardt, Katie Kornfield, Eric Sjoberg, Ella Ales, Alfred Bartel, Carolyn Bartel and eight-year-old Sonia Baram. Dwyer, also known as ‘Mr. Debonair, is one of the sports most popular ice skating stars in figure skating history, having skated in both Ice Follies and Ice Capades.
