Series of AM crashes in Desert Center

Crews were on scene of two Desert Center crashes on Monday morning, after another wreck occurred in same area over the weekend.

One vehicle crashed along the eastbound Interstate 10 west of Eagle mountain Road. The California Highway Patrol says six people were in the vehicle. Two people were trapped under the vehicle during the wreck. The CHP shut down all westbound lanes to land a helicopter.

Also, Riverside County Firefighters responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a vehicle off the roadway on eastbound Interstate 10, east of Ford Dry Lake, near mile post 130 in Desert Center.

Firefighters were on scene with a total of three patients, two of them requiring extrication. Two helicopters were requested to transport two people to hospitals with serious injuries.

This follows car crashes in Desert Center over the weekend.

Two people are recovering after their car hit a guardrail in Desert Center Sunday morning around 7:30. This happened along the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near the Rice Road off-ramp.

Rescue crews worked to free one person who was trapped inside the car. One person was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The other person was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Finally, there was a fourth crash in Desert Center as well.

California Highway Patrol officers said a child was critically injured after a rollover crash at 11:30 Sunday morning on the eastbound 10 Freeway just east of Eagle Mountain Road.

Officers say a minivan carrying at least three people flipped over into the rugged center divider, trapping the child.

Fire crews freed and airlifted the child to a local hospital. The two other people in the van were also taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
