Man identified in last Tuesday’s DHS shooting

DHS police revealed 37 year old Johnny Rodrigues as the man killed in a shooting last Tuesday in Desert Hot Springs.

The Riverside County District Attorney’s office continued weighing whether to file charges against Cathedral City resident Eduardo Stultz, 23, who was arrested in connection with the deadly shooting.

Stultz, 23, remains in custody for a parole violation and will likely appear in court sometime this week for allegedly violating the terms. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be charged with the Dec. 13 shooting death of Rodrigues.

Rodrigues was found around 3 a.m. last Tuesday in the courtyard of a home in the 66100 block of Second Street and was pronounced dead at Desert Regional Medical Center, said Detective Sgt. Gus Paiz.

According to the sergeant, multiple witnesses were interviewed, leading to Stultz’s arrest at 9 p.m. Tuesday near his home in the 28700 block of Landau Boulevard.

Stultz was being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning without bail. He was on parole for a 2013 drug possession case.
