The sixth annual Dancing with the Desert Stars

The sixth annual Dancing with the Desert Stars took place Saturday night at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

Roughly 600 people turned out, raising more than $75,000 for the Desert AIDS Project.

KESQ News Channel 3’s and CBS Local 2’s Alexandra Pierce took the stage, dancing ballroom style with a professional partner. Erin Scott, manager of marketing and public relations for The Living Desert in Palm Desert took home the mirror ball trophy. Pierce received the honor of first runner up.

“The whole thing is most importantly about raising money,” Pierce said before she took the stage. “The Desert AIDS Project, which does so much for our community and is such a huge advocate for people with HIV and AIDS. It’s just really, really wonderful to be able to support such a loving, strong program here in our community.”

Other competitors included Palm Springs Mayor Robert Moon and interior designer Christopher Kennedy.

The event is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the Desert AIDS Project.
