911 Service back up throughout the Coachella Valley

911 systems are back to normal throughout the valley, according to Southern California Edison.

The Palm Springs Police Department’s system had been down all night, but the PSPD confirmed to KESQ News Channel 3/CBS Local 2 that their system issues have been resolved and back to normal Tuesday morning. The lines that were damaged have been re-routed and PSPD is now receiving 911 calls from both wireless and landline systems.

The Indio Police Department have also confirmed that their system returned Tuesday morning, 911 and business lines appear to be working normally again for all cell services.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Department says that its 911 System was is back up, but some Verizon Wireless users are still having issues.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Department provides law enforcement service to the cities of Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Coachella, and the unincorporated communities of Bermuda Dunes, Thousand Palms, Thermal and Mecca. It can be reached at 951-776-1278.

A Southern California Edison representative said work crews restored services around 1 a.m. for callers who were having trouble connecting with regional 911 systems on Monday.

The Cathedral City & Desert Hot Springs Police Departments have yet to confirm whether their systems are working normally.

KESQ News Channel 3 / CBS Local 2 News contacted Frontier Communications for comment. A representative said the 911 issues are not connected to the Frontier network.

TelePacific said the outage was due to Edison’s network.

The issue stemmed from a fiber cable at a 500kv transmission tower near Banning, which has since been rerouted, according to Southern California Edison.

The Palm Springs Police Department first reported issues connecting with wireless callers just before 3 p.m. Monday via Twitter, saying Palm Springs’ 911 system was having “intermittent issues with 911 calls.” KESQ News Channel 3 & CBS Local 2 will have more updates as they become available.
