Cathedral City Police search for hit & run driver

Police were investigating a hit & run collision in Cathedral City that caused a road closure and a power outage. Authorities urged drivers to stay away from both sides of Date Palm and Ramon Road, but only Westbound Ramon was closed Tuesday night. Westbound Ramon was being diverted at San Eljay Avenue According to CCPD Lt. Haas, a motorist in a silver Camaro was traveling Westbound on Ramon Road at 4:45 p.m. when when a motorist in red car tried to turn in its path. The Camaro struck a power pole before flipping over. One person in the Camaro was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. The driver of the red car, took off, police are currently looking for the other driver.

Police are asking anyone who saw anything to call the Cathedral City Police Department.

Southern California Edison is also reporting that there was currently an outage in Cathedral City that left 669 people without power. SCE crews were on their way to repair the pole
