Sunnylands publishes new coffee table book
You can now take a piece of Sunnylands home with you. The historic home is now captured in the pages of a coffee table book published this year.
“Sunnylands America’s Midcentury Masterpiece” was a labor of love for Sunnylands Center and Gardens Director, Janice Lyle.
“It was a whole team of people — our achieves — our communications department, coming together and to find ways to clearly tell our story and to tell it with bits of interesting trivia (inserted) into the overall story,” Lyle said.
The book takes you on a journey through the Annenberg’s estate and zeros in on the many incredible works of art found throughout the home.
“The book really tries to address a number of different audiences. So it speaks about who the Annenbergs were. It speaks about the architect of the home, A. Quincy Jones, and it speaks about the development of the house. The interior designer, William Haines, gets a significant amount of coverage,” Lyle said.
The photographs are a combination of achieves and current photography.
“You want to turn the page. You go from something that’s really big and beautiful, to an up-close detail, to something in between and then it makes this sense of discovery really obvious,” Lyle said.
You can find the book at various book stores, online and at Sunnylands.
