Roads open again in Palm Springs and Cathedral City

UPDATE: Friday 1:30 p.m. North Indian Canyon is OPEN. Gene Autry Trail is OPEN through wash. Araby Road CLOSED at the wash. Cathedral Canyon is OPEN at the wash in Cathedral City.

A continuing wave of rain was causing some road closures around the Coachella Valley Thursday.

Most roads in and out of Palm Springs remained open to traffic, according to police.

VISTA CHINO DRIVE and GENE AUTRY TRAIL were all OPEN to traffic despite continued rain.

But police in Cathedral City did CLOSE CATHEDRAL CANYON DRIVE at it’s wash crossing.

In La Quinta, DUNE PALMS DRIVE was CLOSED at it’s wash crossing.

There were also several power outages reported. 567 Southern California Edison customers were without service in Desert Hot Springs as of noon.

Another 226 were without lights on the east side of Desert Hot Springs, due to equipment problems.

1288 Edison customers had been without service in Palm Desert, again due to equipment troubles. Most of those accounts were back up by noon. 83 remained off-line.

Scattered outages were also reported in Cathedral City and Palm Springs.

2497 Edison customers were without service in Yucca Valley as of noon.

Service had been restored for 1856 customers in the community of Twentynine Palms, but 259 customers were without service in Sunfair Heights just west of Twentynine Palms.

The Imperial Irrigation District cited the rain for sporadic outages in Indio, Thermal, Salton City, North Shore, Brawley & Winterhaven.

The utility said troubleshooters had been dispatched to make repairs, but provided no specifics on how many customers were impacted or when service would be restored.
