Debbie Reynolds, dead at 84

Actress Debbie Reynolds, star of the 1952 classic ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ and mother of Carrie Fisher, has died, son says

Reynolds was hospitalized earlier Wednesday after reports said she suffered a stroke.

Reynolds’ daughter, Carrie Fischer, had just died at 60 Tuesday following a heart attack.

Reynolds was known to frequent the valley and has attended several charitable events in the area.

Palm Springs added Debbie Reynolds to its list of luminaries when she was selected to be the Bob Hope Desert Golf Classic Queen. A decade earlier she had been selected as the Desert Circus Queen.

It didn’t take Reynolds long to make Palm Springs her full-time residence, at one point she owned a home in the Las Palmas neighborhood. Her former E. Racquet Club home is currently for a sale for over half a million dollars.

Reynolds and Fischer were set to screen their documentary ‘Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds’ at the Palm Springs Film Festival next week.

In 2000 Debbie Reynolds was given a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars on 155 S. Palm Canyon Dr.
