Fans remember icon Debbie Reynolds

News of Debbie Reynolds death spread quickly among fans. In downtown Palm Springs, many took a moment to reflect and take pictures when they noticed her name on the Walk of Stars.

“It’s devastating. I’m walking down the street just devastated,” Holly McNeil said. Fans shared memories of watching the actress on the big screen as well as her daughter Carrie Fisher, best known for her Star Wars role as Princess Leia. Fisher died just the day before after suffering from a heart attack.

“It’s really sad. I can’t believe what’s going on. I knew Debbie Reynolds when I was a kid in the ’60s and ’70s. Growing up she was just the star. The all-American person and I can’t believe she’s gone too,” Robin Brenneise said.

“When I heard the news yesterday I was like blown away because my children and grandchildren grew up with Princess Leia and today it was devastating to hear that she passed away,” Marlene Thorne said. As the night ends, many people walking by took one last look at the symbol that marks one of the most influential icons of their time.
