Spa Resort Casino hosts 2nd annual New Years Eve celebration

Spa Resort Casino in Palm Springs hosted one of the Valley’s biggest New Years Eve celebrations for the second year Saturday night.

One year ago, for the first time, fireworks sparked and Starship made a special appearance at Palm Spring’s Spa Resort Casino New Years Eve block party.

This year, thousands joined in on the fun.

“I’m so excited that soon it will be 2017,” one person said.

“[It’s] just fun. Meeting other people in Palm Springs — the food, the drinks the music, just a good night in Palm Springs,” one visitor explained.

Participants enjoyed a variety of food.

“We’ve got hot dogs today. We got southern style pulled pork, cheese teaks, hot pastrami and hot ham and cheese,” one food vendor said.

A number of carnival rides were also available and a live performance featured The Village People and the L.A Clipper’s famous DJ, spinning the latest tunes.

People agreed that a little rain wouldn’t dampen their fun.

“We are so happy here in Palm Springs. It’s a little wet. It’s chilly, but it’s good for the desert, and we’re having a great time,” said one man.

Already, people look forward to ringing in 2017 with New Year’s resolutions.

“[My resolution is] to be kinder and more open,” one woman told us.

“To love my wife, Beverly, more than I ever have before,” said another man from Vancouver.
