Man arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping
Felony charges are expected to be filed Tuesday against a San Bernardino man suspected of trying to coax two young girls into his car in Calimesa.
Luis Lozano, 32, was arrested Thursday afternoon on suspicion of attempted kidnapping following an investigation by Riverside County sheriff’s deputies. He’s being held in lieu of $55,000 bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
According to sheriff’s officials, about 1 p.m. Thursday, Lozano parked his gray Toyota Venza in the 1300 block of Lone Star Court, near the Calimesa Country Club, and allegedly accosted a 10-year-old girl and her 5-year-old companion.
The suspect allegedly told the girls to “get in his vehicle,” according to a sheriff’s statement. The victims did not comply and apparently notified their parents.
Deputies were able to identify the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Lozano based on the witnesses’ statements and the vehicle he was driving.
He was located at his residence on Sepulveda Avenue in San Bernardino, where he was arrested without incident.
