Pedestrian seriously injured after being struck in Palm Springs
The Palm Springs Police Department is investigating an injury collision after a pedestrian was struck by a compact SUV while crossing a street in Palm Springs Monday evening.
KESQ and CBS Local 2’s Joe Galli spoke to a witness at the scene who said a middle-aged man was crossing Sunrise Way near E. San Rafael Drive when he was hit by a Scion XB, which was headed northbound. The collision happened at about 6 p.m.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to officers.
PSPD shut down a portion of Sunrise Way while they investigated the collision and cleared the scene. The road was back open a short while later.
The SUV had damage to the driver’s side mirror and the windshield. The collision is under investigation. Officers said it’s unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
