Post-inauguration plans for President Obama and Michelle may bring them to the desert, as reported by TMZ.
According to the Entertainment program, President Obama and Michelle Obama will be leaving frigid Washington, D.C. for sunny Palm Springs on Friday.
KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 have been working for weeks now to confirm the rumor that the first couple will spend their first night back as citizens in the desert area. We have reached out to the White House, local political figures and law enforcement — none would go on record to confirm the rumor as true.
We do know that President Obama and Michelle will board Marine One after the swearing-in of President Donald Trump, to fly to Andrew’s Air Force Base where at about 2:45 p.m. eastern time, they will board a plane taking them to an undisclosed destination.
The Obama’s have said they plan to live in Washington D.C., but the president has also said several times that he’s taking Michelle on a vacation. In his interview with Oprah, he said he would be heading someplace warm.
Rumors have been swirling for a couple of years now that the Obamas also purchased a place in Rancho Mirage, but we have not been able to confirm that. The Obamas have made several visits to the Coachella Valley for both business and pleasure.
Most likely their destination will be Thunderbird Heights in Rancho Mirage, where family friend and designer Michael Smith has hosted the couple several times.
Continue to follow KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 as we work to confirm their visit.
