Man sentenced to 6 years for shooting at Coachella home
A man who opened fire on a number of people at a Coachella home pleaded guilty Friday to assault with a firearm and was sentenced to six years in state prison.
Pedro Angel Gonzalez, 19, also admitted to a misdemeanor charge of criminal street gang activity and sentence-enhancing allegations of using a firearm in connection with the Nov. 11, 2015 shooting. Gonzalez was arrested for firing from a car about 9 p.m. that night upon people gathered in the backyard of a home in the 1300 block of Second Street, sheriff’s Sgt. Randy Vasquez said.
Deputies said Gonzalez leaned out the window of a white vehicle in an alley at the rear of the house and opened fire on people in the backyard. The suspect vehicle was later found on Cairo Street.
Gonzalez was taken into custody by sheriff’s investigators about three weeks later in Indio.
