Woman files hit & run charges at Yucca Valley protest

A woman participating in a protest on Saturday morning in Yucca Valley filed hit and run charges against a 71-year-old man whom she claims struck her hand with the side mirror of his van while he was driving past the protest.

Deputies said the incident occurred at about 11 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 62 and Highway 247. The suspect, identified as Glen Goslaw of Landers, continued westbound on Highway 247 after the alleged collision, then east on 29 Palms Highway where he stopped near protestors.

According to the sheriff’s release, Goslaw didn’t exit his vehicle, and the Yucca Valley woman reporting the collision didn’t approach him. After about two minutes, Goslaw drove away from the scene.

Deputies pulled him over on Highway 247 and Moonstone Road in Yucca Valley shortly after the report was made. Goslaw claimed as he drove by, protestors began hitting the side of his van and he didn’t know his mirror had hit the woman.

Deputies said the woman had no visible injuries but complained of pain to her hand.

Over the next three days, deputies said they spoke to several witnesses and the woman decided to file charges against Goslaw. The report is being sent to the District Attorney’s Office for possible criminal charges, deputies said in the release.
