Banning homicide suspect turns self in to police

Authorities said a person of interest they were searching for in connection to a Banning homicide that occurred on January 16 has turned himself over to police.

Ronald Dean Ricks was identified by authorities as a person of interest after 32-year-old Banning resident Michael Gordon was shot to death in the street within the 1200 block of Wyte Way in Banning. Paramedics were unable to revive Gordon and he died at the scene, according to the Banning Police Department.

At about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said Ricks turned himself in at the San Jacinto Police Department. Investigators interviewed Ricks and booked him into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on an unrelated offense, officers said in the release.

Jail records didn’t show any charges filed against Ricks at this time, and there was no bail amount listed as of Wednesday afternoon. KESQ and CBS Local 2 will keep you updated as the investigation continues.

Police search for person of interest connected to Banning homicide

Authorities have released the name of a 32-year-old man killed in a shooting in Banning on Monday morning, as officers continue to search for a person of interest wanted for questioning.

Michael Gordon of Banning was gunned down at 11:50 a.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Wyte Way, near Gilman Street. Gordon was laying in the street when officers arrived on scene. He was pronounced dead about 15 minutes later, according to a coroner’s report.

Police have yet to release specific details regarding the circumstances of the shooting.

During the investigation, officers said they identified Ronald Dean Ricks as a person of interest in the investigation. Ricks’ whereabouts are unknown at this time, and police said he’s considered armed and dangerous.
