Memorial Service information for Sara Thomas, the veteran Riverside County firefighter who recently passed away after battling cancer, was announced last week. The memorial services were open to the public Tuesday morning in Indian Wells.
Memorial Service information for Sara Thomas, a veteran Riverside County firefighter who died Monday evening after battling cancer, was announced Wednesday afternoon.
The memorial services will be open to the public and can also be seen online.
Thomas, 41, was a mother of 7-year-old twin girls. She was diagnosed with stage-four terminal cancer in December of 2015. A GoFundMe account was set up with a goal of raising $25,000 for the Sara Thomas Fund to cover costs of alternative medication and the time she was spending away from her home to receive treatment.

According to Public Safety Information Officer Tawny Castro, Thomas’ memorial service will take place on Tuesday, February 7 at 10 a.m. at Southwest Church, located at 41775 Washington Street in Indian Wells.
Her funeral procession will begin at Forest Lawn Mortuary at Ramon Road and Da Vall Drive, and continue south on Bob Hope Drive as it heads to Southwest Church, located at 44175 Washington Street in Indian Wells.
The funeral procession will continue from Southwest Church to a private funeral service at Coachella Valley Cemetery. The procession will make its way southbound on Washington Street to eastbound Avenue 48, where it will move south on Jackson Street to arrive at Coachella Valley Cemetery.

A private ceremony will be taking place in Coachella following the ceremony at Southwest Church, according to Cal Fire public information officer, Jody Hagemann.
A charity golf tournament was held to raise money for Thomas in June of 2016 as she continued her fight.
