Drivers deal with strong winds, blowing sand during evening commute

Strong winds and blowing sands forced the closure of several streets in Palm Springs this evening.

The roads were reopened just after 6 p.m.

Low visibility could be responsible for an accident that happened on Gene Autry Trail at about 4 p.m.

“I live in DHS and I had to go to Indio to get my car serviced, and there has been a lot of wind. And Gene Autry was closed so it has been a hassle going where I need to go,” said Ricardo Villalta.

Winds should be dying down this evening. You can always keep track of local conditions with the KESQ First Alert Weather App.
