Parolee charged with Cherry Valley kidnapping, residential break-in
A 28-year-old parolee who allegedly abducted a woman in Cherry Valley and broke into a home about a week later was charged today with robbery and kidnapping to commit robbery or rape.
Franklin James Scott allegedly approached a woman at 9:11 a.m. Jan. 31, “demanded her belongings and forced her to walk to her vehicle,” according to sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Beatty. For unknown reasons, he later let go of the woman and ran before deputies arrived on scene, the sergeant said.
Scott resurfaced at 9:10 p.m. Feb. 8, Beatty said. The suspect allegedly entered a home in the 10200 block of Live Oak Avenue, but was scared off by the homeowners. Scott was identified by the victims in both incidents and was arrested the following afternoon at his Cherry Valley home, Beatty said.
In 2008, Scott pleaded guilty to assault with intent to commit rape, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and a misdemeanor count of sexual battery, court records show. He was sentenced to six years in state prison and required to register as a sex offender.
Scott, who’s being held at the Riverside County jail without bail, is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon.
