Coroner identifies man killed in industrial accident

Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a man’s death at the Diamond Generating Corporation in N. Palm Springs.

The coroner’s office identified the man as 47-year-old Daniel Collins of Hemet.

Cal Fire responded to the medical emergency at 10:13 a.m. Monday. The company is located at 15775 Melissa Lane in the unincorporated area of N. Palm Springs.

According to Cal OSHA, a high-pressure valve that Collins was working on exploded. Authorities are still investigating what caused the valve to explode.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is overseeing the investigation. KESQ and CBS Local 2 will deliver updates as soon as we hear back from deputies.
