Student’s social media post prompts police to lock down CVHS

Police locked down Coachella Valley High School for about 15 minutes early Wednesday morning after a student posted a video on social media showing himself with firearms and ammunition, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The school was locked down at 6:45 a.m., according to an automated call sent out to parents of students Wednesday morning.

The school was locked down as a precaution while officers searched for the student. The student was located and detained. He was not found with any firearms and The Kids with Guns Protocol was initiated and the investigation revealed no viable threats to anyone, Deputy Armando Munoz said.

The automated call stated the lockdown was issued out of caution and the safety of the students is of utmost importance.

Some parents were concerned in Palm Springs Wednesday morning after rumors started spreading about police activity at Palm Springs High School.
