Local boy and pet chicken appear on “America’s Funniest Home Videos”

A La Quinta boy and his pet chicken appeared on Sunday night’s episode of “America’s Funniest Home Videos”.

Gove said the video shows him and his chicken performing a trick with her beak, wiping it naturally when it’s wet, after eating a strawberry.

He said it took him two years to find this exact type of bird, and a 13-hour drive up to Idaho to bring her home.

“We decided to bring her home, because she was doing really well in the fairs up there,” Gove said. “She got Grand Champion one year, and so we brought her back for this fair, and she got first place, and I got really excited. She’s just my best friend. She sits with me when I do school work, on my shoulder. And she’s just funny. She runs around the house sometimes. She’s just the best.”

Gove said he and his family invited some friends and their chicken over for a party to watch the duo’s TV debut.
