Pack of sickly coyotes cause concern for Cathedral City neighborhood

Neighbors in one Cathedral City community are raising concerns about what they say is a pack of sickly coyotes that they can’t find help for.

Some people at the “Canyon Mobile Home Community say the animals have been around for years.. but recently they’ve become more and more brazen, wandering around the narrow streets at all hours of the day, resting in the shade and even watching people.

At least one of the coyotes… they believe is sick– extremely thin and covered in mange.

“When I saw that one that was so weak and on death’s door, that’s when I started saying okay, nobody else will take the rein’s and do anything. If I have to sit on the phone and call everybody and scream and yell at people, I will do it,” said Barbara Fopma, who has been a resident of the community for 17-years.

Residents tell us they have contacted the local police department and other animal agencies but aren’t getting help.

We reached out to the local biologist for California Fish and Wildlife, who would be in charge of handling the situation, and have not yet heard back.
