Coroner identifies pedestrian killed in Indio

Authorities on Thursday released the name of a man who was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing an Indio road.

Craig Williams, 67, of Indio, was struck about 11 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Indio Boulevard and Avenue 48, not far from the city line with Coachella, said Indio Sgt. Daniel Marshall. Williams, who police said did not cross the roadway at a crosswalk, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene, was cooperative with police and was not arrested, Marshall said.
