Police pursuit ends in traffic collision in Palm Springs

A driver allegedly took off from police at high speeds Thursday in Palm Springs, leading officers on a short pursuit before crashing into another car.

The chase began just before 5 p.m. when officers were investigating a domestic violence incident at a home, according to a PSPD watch commander.

A car at the residence sped off when officers approached, prompting a short pursuit through city streets at excess of 75 mph.

The chase ended about a minute later, when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into another car at the intersection of Sunrise Way and Racquet Club Drive.

A man and woman were in the vehicle, but police could not confirm which person was driving the car. At least one of the occupants sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken to a hospital.

There was no word if anyone was injured in the other involved vehicle. Police have shut down the intersection and have asked that drivers avoid the area.
