Suspects detained in Beaumont homicide investigation

Search warrants were served and several people were detained Thursday by Beaumont police investigators trying to solve the killing of a 21-year-old woman.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to collect donations for the victim, Jasmine Zuniga.

According to Detective Robert Galletta, Beaumont was assisted by law enforcement agencies in multiple jurisdictions during a series of search and seizure operations related to the March 4 slaying of Jasmine Zuniga.

She was found about 10:40 p.m., shot to death in her vehicle on Michigan Avenue, near Eighth Street, after officers responded to reports of shots fired, Galletta said. Galletta would not disclose what details had emerged since the shooting but confirmed that persons of interest had been identified.

With the help of the Corona, Hemet and Murrieta police departments, as well as the Riverside and San Bernardino County sheriff’s departments, investigators served warrants at homes in Banning, Beaumont, Calimesa, San Jacinto and Yucaipa, according to Galletta.

Several unnamed people were detained for questioning, he said, adding that further details would be released as the investigation progresses. Anyone with information about the deadly shooting was asked to contact the Beaumont Police Department at (951) 769-8500.
