Coroner IDs 75-year-old pedestrian killed in Desert Hot Springs collision

The coroner’s office identified the 75-year-old pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle on Palm Drive early Wednesday morning.

Ronald Blumkin of Desert Hot Springs died about 30 minutes after the collision, which occurred just before 6 a.m. near the intersection of Palm Drive and Ironwood Drive, authorities said.

Blumkin was not in a crosswalk when he was struck, according to Deputy Chief Jim Henson. He was rushed to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police said the driver did not leave the scene and was cooperative with officers.

The intersection of Palm Drive and Ironwood was closed until about 11:30 a.m. that day.
