Cabot Yerxa students get career advice

Students at a Desert Hot Springs elementary school are getting a jump start on their careers.

More than a dozen presenters came out to Cabot Yerxa Elementary School Friday morning for their first college and career fair.

Students in third, fourth, and fifth grades heard from local speakers who shared their experiences, in hopes of inspiring them to reach for the stars.

“It seems very positive, the kids are all smiling. The parents that joined us seem excited as well. It’s a good opportunity for the kids to be inspired to set goals now and be ready for their futures,” said Amber Gasccoigne the school’s principal.

The school’s goal is to keep the fair going every year and even expand to other grade levels. Eventually hitting students from Kindergarten to fifth grade.
