Firefighters douse flames after horse ranch catches fire

A horse ranch caught fire Tuesday afternoon near 30th Avenue and Sierra Del Sol in Thousand Palms.

Cal Fire was called to the home at about 3:15 p.m. and had the fire contained within 30 minutes. Workers at the horse ranch were trying to put out the fire by shoveling sand onto the flames.

KESQ and CBS Local 2 was on scene when a shed on the property burned down. No people or animals were injured during the fire, but horses were frantic and unsettled as firefighters worked to contain the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
