2 house fires ignite 12 hours apart in same block of Desert Hot Springs

Two fires ignited at homes in the 66000 block of Granada Avenue in Desert Hot Springs about 12 hours apart.

Firefighters contained a house fire in Desert Hot Springs Tuesday afternoon. They arrived to the residence on the 66000 block of Granada Avenue near Cactus Drive at 12:32 p.m.

The living space was significantly damaged, but authorities said the residence was vacant and nobody is living there. The fire was contained at about 12:40 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.Nobody was injured fighting the fire.

The second fire was reported in the garage of a home on Wednesday at 12:56 a.m. and firefighters had the blaze contained by about 1:10 a.m. Authorities estimated the damage at $20,000 and they said nobody was evacuated from the home.

KESQ and CBS Local 2 is working to determine if the second home was vacant as well.

The investigations into the house fires continue.
