Four men injured in Banning shooting, police seek public help

Police today sought the public’s help in determining the circumstances of a shooting at a Banning house party that left four men wounded.

Police received reports of shots fired about 9:50 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of North Allen Street. Upon arrival, officers found one man with a graze wound to the forehead and also learned that three other men had taken themselves to the city’s San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital with various gunshot wounds.

One of the men was shot in the leg, another in the back and another in the abdomen. The man with the abdomen wound was later transferred to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet. The man with the graze wound was treated on scene and was not taken to a hospital.

According to police, the victims, as well as “many people” present at the party, have not volunteered any information on how the shooting occurred.

Banning police Chief Alex Diaz said that without any witness information, police cannot confirm whether there were one or multiple shooters.

Diaz also could not confirm whether the shooting was gang-related, but said the department’s Gang Task Force was investigating whether that might be the case.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting was asked to call the Banning Police Department at (951) 922-3170.
