The Rise and Fall of Former Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet

Conflict of interest allegations first surfaced against former Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet in 2015, which led to a raid at city hall in his final year in office.

When his term was up, Pougnet left the desert to be with his husband and children in Colorado.

News Channel 3’s John White takes a look back at Pougnet’s years in Palm Springs including some of the highs and some of the lows as the corruption case continues against Pougnet.

Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin called the case against Pougnet, “buying of influence.”

The raid at city hall came at the end of Pougnet’s second term as mayor.

He had been re-elected in 2011 with about 70 percent of the vote.
