Crash involving motorcycle causes traffic delays on I-10

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a motorcycle on eastbound I-10 near Bob Hope Drive. The collision is blocking traffic in a couple of lanes, leading to an already congested roadway being even more backed up.

This coming after tens of thousands of people are already taking to eastbound I-10 as they head to the second weekend of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio. CHP officers said traffic was backed up to Monterey Avenue, just east of Bob Hope Drive, as of 2 p.m. Friday.

Officers said the number two lane is blocked by a Honda, one of the vehicles involved in the crash. Officers reported one person was injured in a Toyota Prius which was involved in a collision with a motorcycle.

There was no immediate word about the extent of injuries or if any other vehicles were involved.

KESQ and CBS Local 2 will deliver updates as soon as we hear back from CHP officers. If you’re driving on eastbound I-10, it’s a good idea to avoid it Friday night, and possible through Saturday afternoon, as festival goers will continue to flood the roadway.
