8th cell phone theft arrest made at Coachella
A man is in jail Sunday, suspected of stealing cell phones at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Indio Police (IPD) Officers said the man is the 8th person arrested suspected of stealing phones at the festival.
IPD officers said they found Leonardo Miranda Aguilar from Miami, FL, Saturday night, a suspect that was possibly pickpocketing festival goers.
After watching Aguilar for several minutes, police said officers attempted to arrest him. Officers said as they approached him, Aguilar threw several phones in the crowd, and began fighting with police.
After a brief struggle, Aguilar was taken into custody to the Indio Jail. No officers were injured during the arrest.
It’s unknown how many phones Aguilar threw into the crowd, however police said several phones were returned to the owners that night.
