Fire at Desert Hot Springs apartment building

A fire damaged a single-story apartment complex today in Desert Hot Springs but no one was injured.

The fire broke out at 1:11 a.m. in the 68000 block of Club Circle Drive and was knocked down by 19 firefighters in 30 minutes, said Tawny Cabral of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The first responding firefighters reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the complex, Cabral said. The fire was contained to that structure.

Firefighters were expected to remain on scene until at least 3:45 a.m.
