Police investigate after man shot multiple times in Indio

The Indio Police Department is investigating after a man was shot multiple times Friday morning near Hopi Avenue and Navajo Street at about 11:30 a.m. The victim was shot in his lower body and was rushed to the hospital, according to Sgt. Dan Marshall.

Officers were combing the area near the shooting scene for a man in his 20s last seen wearing a black shirt. He should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police, who urged members of the public to avoid the area.

We have a crew at the scene working to ge more information. Officers asked the public to stay away from the area while they were investigating, but if you have any information about the shooting, you’re asked to call police.
