La Quinta celebrates 35th birthday

The city of La Quinta celebrated its 35th birthday Saturday. Friends and families gathered at Civic Center Park in La Quinta for a community picnic and birthday bash.

The celebration included entertainment from local performers, activities for children, and community information booths. La Quinta police officers and local firefighters were also on hand to promote community safety.

“It’s important. We want to honor our city history and celebrate another wonderful year with our community expanding and just getting a lot of people to get involved and come out and enjoy,” Christina Calderon, Community Programs and Wellness Supervisor of La Quinta, said.

La Quinta became an incorporated city on May 1, 1982, after attracting a number of celebrity visitors.
