A Morongo Valley man was arrested Monday night on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly cutting his neighbor’s neck with a straight razor.
Authorities said they were called to an assault at the Valley View Mobile Manor trailer park in Morongo Valley, located in the 10800 block of West Drive, at about 9:50 p.m.
The victim, 62-year-old Robert Trevino, had a cut to the neck with a straight razor. When deputies arrived, Trevino was bleeding profusely from the jugular. He was taken to the hospital where he was immediately taken into surgery, according to the sheriff’s release.
Authorities learned the suspect was Trevino’s neighbor, 53-year-old Paulo Franco. Deputies said they discovered a bloody scene in the front yard of Franco’s residence.
Franco was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail on $1M bail.
Trevino’s surgery was successful and he is expected to recover, deputies said.
