2nd Veterans University takes place soon in Palm Springs

The second Veterans University will take place at the Palm Springs Convention Center on Saturday, May 20. The planned timing for the event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Veterans University was put together by Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz. It was held for the first time in 2016. Veterans University offers veterans, active duty service members, and their families the opportunity to learn about the services and programs that they have earned, according to the release.

Veterans University is for veterans, service members, their families, and anyone in our community interested in learning about how to improve the lives of veterans in a welcoming classroom environment.

It’s a one-day event covering several topics: Health Care Disability Benefits Mental Health Transportation Employment Resources for Veterans

Presenters at Veterans Academy include representatives from Veteran Service Organizations, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Department of Labor. They will provide a broad overview of each benefit, followed by practical and detailed information on how to access the benefits described, Congressman Ruiz said in the release.

Participants of Veterans University will also receive contact information they can use, should they have difficulty accessing benefits on their own.

Congressman Ruiz wants the community to show our veterans how important they are by learning how to better serve them.

The 2nd Annual Veterans University is sponsored by KESQ News Channel 3 / CBS Local 2 and will be co-hosted by CBS Local 2’s Tom Tucker.
