Highway 111 reopens west of Palm Springs

Police closed northbound Highway 111 west of Palm Springs Friday morning after a UPS truck rolled over near Windy Point at Angel Canyon Trail.

There was no immediate indication that the wreck was wind-related, but winds were gusting up to 65 mph in the Whitewater area, according to First Alert Meteorologist Jerry Steffen.

The crash happened at 4:18 a.m.

No injuries were reported, but wreckage from the crash blocked both northbound lanes.

Police shut down Highway 111 northbound at Gateway Drive just west of the entrance to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, and recommended motorists use Indian Canyon Drive as an alternate route.

The roadway was reopened to all traffic at 7:03 a.m.
