See who got “creamed” to save an endangered mammal

He’s a familiar face to children and their families around the Coachella Valley.

But few people would have recognized The Living Desert CEO Allen Monroe today after he got “Pied 4 a Porpoise.”

The LIving Desert shared a video with CBS Local 2 and KESQ of Monroe accepting the Pied 4 a Porpoise challenge from the Aquarium of the Pacific.

With help from the “singing dog” Teluk, Monroe flipped his baseball cap, then got creamed, before flashing a “V” for vaquita.

Only 30 vaquita porpoises remain in the world.

Monroe then laid out another challenge.

“The Living Desert challenges the Birmingham Zoo, Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum and celebrity Leonardo DiCaprio to get pied for a porpoise or to donate $30 for the 30 vaquitas left. One two three, Oh! (laughing) V for vaquita!”

Donate money to save the vaquita porpoise here, and watch other zoos across the country take the Pied 4 a Porpoise challenge by searching #Pied4APorpoise.
