One person airlifted from Whitewater hiking area
One person was airlifted out of the Whitewater hiking area Sunday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency.
According to Cal Fire/Riverside County, crews responded to the Canyon View Loop Trail around 12:40 p.m.
Firefighters had to hike roughly 1 mile up the trail to make contact with the patient, who was said to have been suffering a medical emergency. The patient was hoisted from the area by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s helicopter, Star92, to an awaiting ambulance.
The patient was then transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital in moderate condition.
