Coroner’s Office identifies body found along preserve trail

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has identified a man found dead along a hiking trail west of Desert Hot Springs Monday.

Marvin Novo, 57, of Turlock was discovered by hikers along the West Fork Trail in the Mission Creek Preserve a mile and a half west of the Wildland Conservancy.

The northern California man’s exact cause of death, and when he died remains under investigation.

According to Riverside County Sheriffs Deputy, Armando Munoz, hikers in the area of Mission Creek Road and Highway 62 called police after spotting the man’s body just after 10 a.m. Monday.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office was then called to the area to investigate.

Novo’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
