Palm Desert baseball loses nail biter CIF championship game at Dodger’s Stadium

The Aztecs were looking to capture their 3rd CIF championship on Friday as they took on Etiwanda at Dodger Stadium. First pitch for the Division 2 title game was tossed at 4:00 pm.

It was an exciting season but closed with disappointment as the Aztec’s dropped a nail biter, 2-1.

This was the 5th appearance in a CIF championship game for head coach Darol Salazar and his program, the last win coming in 2010.

This year, the local baseball powerhouse finished the league season at 11-1 (23-7 overall) and as DVL champions for yet another year. Click here to see every result from the season.

A tough way for the season to end for palm desert but a once in a lifetime experience playing in a championship game at Dodger Stadium.

“Just coming out here with these guys all my brothers, I grew up with them my whole life and playing at Dodger Stadium with them is definitely a dream come true,” said Aztecs senior Izayah Alvarez.
