Skincare and health tips for summer

Summer is right around the corner and many people will be spending long hours under the sun. Jennifer Difrancesco, Director of the Spa and Sports Club at the Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells, was live in studio to share her summer health tips.

We all know sunscreen is essential to prevent skin disease and aging, but Difrancesco says we should be looking for certain ingredients in our sun protectant; zinc and titanium. The combination works as a physical barrier to the skin.

While many people enjoy hiking or biking outdoors, once temperatures reach more than 100 degrees it can be dangerous to exercise outside, but Difrancesco says that shouldn’t stop you. Mind Body is an app that helps navigate locals to specific fitness centers. You can sign up and pay for classes on the app too.

Last, Difrancesco stresses the important of essential oils, which are plant hormones. Lavender, peppermint, and clarisage are good cooling mechanisms if you have a sun burn.
