58-year-old Palm Desert man accused of sexually assaulting minor

Authorities with the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station said a 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor.

Michael Gallo Jones was arrested on Thursday, June 1 just before 8:30 p.m. The arrest was made after deputies received a report of a past sexual assault of a minor which allegedly happened on May 26, according to a news release.

During the investigation, Jones was identified as the suspect. He was booked on various counts of sexual abuse charges against a person under 14 years of age. Authorities said he’s still in custody and is facing $450,000 bail. Jones is scheduled to be back in court on June 14.
